Leap of faith!
Ebay Shop closure
Some of you may have heard of the happenings over at ebay at the moment, with fee increases and restricted payment methods being the order of the day. The end result for you as a customer is increased prices, less bargains to be found and less options for payment; namely PayPal or cash on pickup.
At The Bedbug, our promise to you is to offer genuine first quality children's manchester at discounted prices in a flexible shopping environment. In order to continue to deliver on this promise, we have made the decision to close our ebay store and trade solely from our online store www.thebedbug.com.au.
We are in the process of setting up a clearance section on the site where you can grab overstocked or discontinued items at bargain basement prices. We will also hold intermittent clearance sales on ebay - sign up to our mailing list to be advised of where and when!
Until next time, sweet dreams!

Happy New Year!
I know, I know, it's all a bit late, but, well, life went and got busy on me.
Christmas came and went, Santa came and went, the tree actually came down before the end of January (one New Year's Resolution has been kept at least!)... unlike last year when my big bug kept begging me to take it down before his birthday - in April...
We scooted off to a gorgeous little fishing village for a relaxing family holiday with friends, one of whom managed to drag me off to every fabric related store within an hour's proximity! Needless to say I have renewed my acquaintance with my sewing machine, have a stash of gorgeous fabrics, and a list of over 20 projects on my wishlist!
Speaking of fabrics, my esteemed Bedbug partner Cylie (not content with renewing my personal fabric addiction!) has stepped out and set up an offshoot of The Bedbug, The Fabricbug! Featuring all of your favourite licensed characters, The Fabricbug offers 100% cottons, polycottons, thermal lined fabric, remnant packs, ready-to-quilt packs and Softies for Sanctuary - gorgeous handcrafted softies with profit donated to Adra - Women's Refuges. Check out The Fabricbug here.
With all of that, it has been a busy January so far for The Bedbug crew. Finally school holidays are nearly through and I for one am looking forward to everything returning to normal. Kind of.
We as a family are looking at a different kind of normal this year, with our big bug off to school for the first time! I don't think the little bug and I quite know what we are in for... apart from having to be terribly organised (I don't think I appreciated how easy I had it with kinder!), I am hoping for some more solid blocks of time to work on the bedbug and the aforementioned sewing projects, without all of the usual running around. Only time will tell.
With the onset of school, the big bug has upgraded his room, with the addition of bunks and of course, big bug bedding... The choice was a Transformers design, with the little bug selecting Spiderman as his hero of choice for the transition from cot to big bed later this year (yes, I am still in denial...).
Quick Treehouse update: we have new stock arriving in the next week, so if you are looking to upgrade your little bug's bedroom with some gorgeous designs, stay tuned...
In the meantime, enjoy these last few days of holidays and to all of those bugs (and parents) making the step to "big school" this year, good luck, Ill be thinking of you!

Santa Claus is coming, Santa Claus is coming...
"Santa Claus is coming,
Santa Claus is coming,
He's not very far away,
Time to hang your stockings up,
Tomorrow's Christmas Day!"
Hi-5
Hi-5
Now, we don't even do Hi-5 in this house, being that there are 2 boys who are not even remotely interested in the singing, dancing phenomenon, but when I heard this song played at kinder today I was so excited! Despite not being a Hi-5 household, I love this song! This song is the only reason I watch Carols By Candlelight at the Myer Music Bowl on Christmas Eve, long after the kids have gone to bed; it gets me through numerous Ray Martin sightings and at least one Dennis Walter song; and yes, I stand up alone in the lounge room and do the actions, don't you?
Hearing it today made it real that Christmas is just around the corner and not in a stressful "better get the shopping done!" kind of way, but in a joyous, "yay, Christmas is here, let's decorate the tree, bake goodies for the neighbours, catch up with friends over juice and bubbles and let's really enjoy it, let's look at it through the eyes of the children in our lives and see the magic and wonder of Christmas again" kind of way. Suffice to say I could go on and on (more than I already have), but I should probably stop, right about...here.
So, for our festive friends of The Bedbug, we have decided to bestow some Christmas cheer on you all and offer a 10% discount on our already low, low prices!
Enter the coupon code XMAS07 when purchasing to receive 10% off at the checkout (excluding shipping charges).
Offer ends 19 December 2007.
We also have some fab character facewashers to give away as a Christmas gift from The Bedbug for the first 30 orders. Use together with the gift or as a stocking stuffer, you can't go wrong!
So spread some Christmas cheer of your own this year, see a child's face light up when they see their favourite character appear as a regular friend in their room and save yourself some Christmas cash at the same time. Oh, and don't forget to sign up to the mailing list for more gems like this one!
Until next time, enjoy the festive season and may your Christmas be full of love and child like wonder...

The Bed Bug story...
Once upon a time there was a mum from the burbs whose little boy was mad about Thomas the Tank Engine. After decking out his bedroom in all things Thomas and seeing the joy it brought him, she thought she might spread the joy and try selling character quilt covers on ebay.
She started off small and made a little extra cash to support her shoe shopping and handbag habit. As word spread of her great prices and fantastic customer service, she introduced more characters and a greater range of products. Before she knew it she had a fully fledged business on her hands! Oh the shoes! Oh the handbags!
The next logical step was to set up her own manchester store. The Bedbug online store was born, offering customers a fun, easy and affordable shopping experience. With an accessible and easy to navigate site and customer service just a quick email away, you have time to browse at your leisure, without interruption. And low overheads mean we can keep the prices down, even lower than ebay! Hurray!
So the shop was launched, the kingdom was saved, the princess found matching shoes and handbag to wear to the ball and everyone lived happily ever after...
In the words of a young man I know “blah blah blah, the end.”
